Aimee Copeland is battling flesh-eating disease.
AUGUSTA, Ga. â" A young Georgia woman battling a flesh-eating disease has spoken for the first time since she was taken to an Augusta hospital nearly a month ago for treatment, her father said.
âHello. Whoa. Wow, my mind is blown,â said Aimee Copeland, 24, who began breathing on her own just last week.
Her father, Andy Copeland, said in an interview Monday that he was in church Sunday morning and missed his daughterâs first words. But his other daughter, Paige, told him what Aimee had said.
âOur baby can talk,â the father wrote happily on his Facebook page.
