EXETER, N.H.â"New Hampshire health officials are holding a public forum to explain new testing recommendations for people who may have been infected with hepatitis C at Exeter Hospital.
The state Department of Health and Human Services scheduled Thursday night's forum at Exeter High School to answer questions about the outbreak that so far has affected 30 patients of the hospital's cardiac catheterization lab. Former lab worker David Kwiatkowski was charged last week with federal drug crimes, and authorities say he stole drugs and contaminated needles that were used on patients.
Officials initially recommended testing for anyone who had been treated at the lab since October 2010. Testing now is recommended for anyone who had surgery or was admitted to the intensive care unit from April 1, 2011, to May 25, 2012.
