Marlton resident in Transplant Games - Cherry Hill Courier Post

GRAND RAPIDS, MI â€" There’s a South Jersey Connection to the 2012 Transplant Games of America, which kick off today â€" Anngelena Oliver.

The teenage Marlton resident will be participating in the track and field, table tennis and basketball events. It’s her second trip to the games representing Team Philadelphia.

Back in July of 2009, she received a kidney transplant at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. More than 65 transplant recipients, seven living donors and 16 donor families from eastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware are part of the team competing in the Midwest.

The Transplant Games are a biennial, Olympic-style competition for those who received a life-saving transplant. Usually they include heart, liver, lung, kidney, pancreas and bone marrow recipients, as well as living donors.
