SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -Â The county fair is underway in Sheboygan where there is a heightened level of concern after the first death due to a new strain of swine flu.
On Friday, an Ohio woman with a compromised immune system died, after being infected with the H3N2 flu.
State health officials say 14 people in Wisconsin have been infected with H3N2, which has been linked to pig exposure at the Wisconsin State Fair, as well as at county fairs in Kenosha, Dodge and Manitowoc.
Today's TMJ4's Todd Hicks spoke with Sheboygan county fair officials who are handing out a state health bulletin to everyone, explaining the precautions they're taking.
Health officials are encouraging everyone who visits the county fair to wash their hands and to contact their doctor if they develop any flu-like symptoms afte r a visit .
There are other warnings, such as do not eat while in the barns, and do not touch the animals.
Some of the symptoms of H3N2 include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing as well as vomiting and diarrhea.
